How do I hide the dashboard from users, but not the admin?

As default, wordpress wp-login page will send the user to the dashboard. But some users do not like their users seeing the dashboard as it contains certain information about your site. Because this is the default way wordpress works, we did not want to change it as part of our our Plugin plugin. This is because if wordpress release an update that changes this file, it could render your site unusable. Our Plugin includes a login widget that will log users in and take them to your blog, not the dashboard. However, if the user accessed your wp-login.php page, wordpress will send the user to your dashboard. We have seleted and tested a plugin for you to use if you want to stop users seeing this.

If a user logs in to your site using the Plugin sidebar widget, they will be returned to the page they were viewing when they used the WPM login widget. But if a user logs out, wordpress will automatically send them to the standard login page. From here the user would see the dashboard if they logged in.

We use wp-hide-dashboard which you can find here:  http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-hide-dashboard/

To hide your dashboard from users, but still allow admins to access it, simply follow the following steps:
1) download the plugin
2) extract it
3) upload the extracted folder to your wp-content/plugins directory of your site
4) activate it from the plugin page of your wordpress admin section
